Accessibility statement

Our aim
We want every parent to be able to use Big Day Stories, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, larger text or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the WCAG 2.2 level AA guidelines.
What we do
- Every page works with a keyboard and has a "Skip to content" link.
- Text can be made larger for the whole site in Settings, and the story reader has its own text size, night mode and sentence highlighting.
- We use clear headings, labels on every form field, error messages in words (never colour alone), and contrast checked against the guidelines.
- Animations respect the "reduce motion" setting of your device.
- Tick boxes and buttons are large enough to tap on a phone.
What we know is not perfect yet
- Story pictures are created with AI. Each story page has its text, but the pictures do not yet have their own detailed descriptions.
- PDF downloads are designed for reading and printing; they are not yet fully tagged for screen readers.
We are working on both and will update this statement.
